FH King Contacts

Erika Jones - Finance Director

erika

Erika spent the past 5 years working at a nonprofit coordinating and managing volunteers in the San Francisco Bay Area. Through that work she was exposed to the challenges facing low-income communities and became particularly interested in food access issues in urban areas. Working with a variety of urban farms piqued her interest in food and poverty policy, prompting Erika to pursue a Master's in Public Affairs here in Madison at the La Follette School of Public Affairs. Though she misses the beautiful Bay Area, she is glad to be back in her native Wisconsin to enjoy the superb cheese, the ever changing seasons, and the opportunity to be a part of F.H. King!

John Welton - Garden Director

John is a sophomore at UW-Madison interested in Spanish and environmental issues. He looks forward to growing, sharing, and eating a healthy dose of vegetables alongside fellow students in the upcoming growing seasons.

Kimberly Koch - 2010 CSA Coordinator

Born and raised in Madison (only 2 miles from the garden), Kimberly is a Junior studying Horticulture and Environmental Studies. She loves spending her time out at Eagle Heights where she bounces between working in the FH King garden and her own personal plot. Although her passion for organic and sustainable agriculture is only a few years old, she plans on making it into a life long career! She looks forward to seeing you all at the garden or one of the FH King events!

Leah Edgar - Garden Director

Raised in the wilds of Somerset, Wisconsin, Leah spent her impressionable years playing outside and working in her grandparents’ garden (e.g. eatin’ lots of raspberries and playing hide and seek in the corn field). She spent time working in construction and later was immersed in the gourmet kitchenware scene, learning to live and love local, and assisting area chefs in cooking school classes. It was time to return to the hallowed walls of academia and get some new book learnin’. She’s happy to be studying in the Dept. of Community and Environmental Sociology, hoping to seek justice for people and the land.  She also enjoys long walks on the beach and digging in the dirt with friends.

Mark Sandberg - Program Director

Mark

After growing up in Iowa, Mark had a stint of following his other interests before going to college, which exposed him to a variety of experiences; from woodworking to leading a canoe trip in the Canadian arctic.

Happy to be in school again at the University of Wisconsin, Mark's academic interests are cultural anthroplogy, American Indian studies and art. He is interested in creativity (including agriculture) as a fundamental aspect of being human. He plans to work in education, hoping to one day create a school based on craft, art and sustainable agriculture.

Rosa Kozub - Administrative Director

Rosa moved back to Madison in the fall of '09 to start the Master's program in the Urban & Regional Planning department. She's been interested in food and agriculture from a young age and after milling around Chicago for the past 6 years, she finally decided it was time to try to make a career out of it. Within the planning department Rosa has a specific interest in food systems planning and she's excited to study in a city with such a devotion to its food system. She also feels fortunate to have landed a job at F.H. King, where the folks are a real pleasure to work with and the vegetables are mighty tasty.

Send Rosa an email if you want to be added to the F.H. King email list-serve.
